| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Give babies the support they need at night to get a comfortable, safe night's rest. The Head 'n Back Sleep Positioner offers the perfect amount of support babies need for sleeping on their back. Soft memory foam forms to the shape of baby's head. Supports are made of high-tech sandwich fabric for maximum breathability. Head 'n Back Sleep Positioner is fully adjustable for the perfect fit.
Editorial Review Doctors recommend having babies sleep on their backs to lessen the risk of health problems. This sleeping pad is designed to help in that effort while still keeping baby comfortable. The head pad is curved, molded to the shape of a baby's head, and built out of a cushioned material. The head and side pads are adjustable, and the whole unit is machine washable. We found the adjusting process to be easy, and, although we didn't actually take a nap, the pad did look pretty cozy. --John Moe

not what I expected February 13, 2008 Head and back sleep positioner I am sure it will work wonderfully but it was not what I expected. It is something I could have made myself for a lot less money then what I paid for these two I bought.
Great til your baby starts to wiggle alot! January 27, 2008 Purchased this to help prevent any flatness of our daughter's head.
Likes: --Memory foam pillow seems very comfy - my daughter seemed to like it.
--The pillow and both side rolls are removable.
--Everything is machine washable. (Very important for my projectile vomiter!)
--Definitely gave us peace of mind knowing our swaddled newborn wasn't tipping over onto her face by being in this positioner!
--It took MANY washes for the velcro on the side rolls to stop being as effective. I washed this whole thing almost every day for 8 weeks! Before that time, the velcro held up much better than I thought at first glance!!
--Easy to travel with - just the pillow, side rolls, and a thin piece of material that can fold or roll up.
--The pillow and side rolls are made of the breathable material.
Reasons I stopped using it: --Once my daughter hit about 9 weeks of age, she would get her head trapped between the pillow and a side roll - she would wake up crying because she couldn't lift her head high enough to get unstuck.
--The fact that the side rolls weren't sticking as well anymore. (However, I was not opposed to the idea of sewing on a new piece of velcro if the she hadn't been having problems with the pillow.)
--I was using this positioner plus a foam wedge incline and I really wanted it all in one. (Recently purchased the Sassy Ultimate Sleep System for my now 11 week old daughter and love it - see my review on that item!)
OVERALL:
Perfect for newborns until they can push their head off of the pillow.
One thing should be said about the "mat" the pillow and side rolls stick to: It's not cushy, it's very thin so don't count on it for any comfort levels. Also, it's not as soft as they lead you to believe, but that wasn't too important considering it's winter-time and my baby has been bundled up either swaddled, wearable blankets, or in longsleeved sleepers with fold-over mitts and a hat - leaving little skin to be shown!
Worked very well and helped baby sleep comfortably September 27, 2007 My daughter used this positioner for 5 months while sleeping on her back. I never noticed any toxic fumes and she's now 5 years old and has never had any series health problems. I felt she was very comfortable as opposed to setting her little head and body down on a hard mattress which is the trend these days. She was protected from SIDS while at the same time being cozy. I will use this product for my new baby, as well.
Breathing Hazard June 17, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought this would be an awesome idea considering I was so worried about my babys head getting flat. But when I put her head on the pillow, it lifted her head so much to where her chin touched her chest and it seemed as though she had trouble breathing. I tried to use it but after about a minute of being away from her she started fussing (which she never does at night) so I panicked and took it away from her. I would much rather deal with turing her head in the middle of the night than leave her unable to breath.
Don't bother January 10, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
this was the 2nd sleep postioner we purchased since it had the head flatness feature...but didnt really serve its purpose. she was still able to turn her head and thus her head became more flat on that one side. it also doesnt tilt like the first postioner we got...so really, we didnt use it at all.
