Very cozy and nice blanket for the price December 5, 2008 I ordered two of these blankets and I couldn't be more pleased. The colors are beautiful and the fabric is so soft, warm, and cozy. It's the perfect size for me (I'm 5'7) to lounge on the couch with.
Pique vs. Regular December 5, 2008 I bought two of these blankets. One pique, one not. For those thinking of buying one of these, I would definitely suggest getting the Coral Fleece, NOT the Pique Coral Fleece. You can see the difference if you zoom in on the pictures -- the pique has a textured stippled pattern to it that really affects the softness and loft of the blanket, making it feel thinner (which I see some other reviewers have had complaints about). The non-pique blanket feels much thicker and softer.
I'm thinking of exchanging my pique blanket for a non-pique, but other than that I love them. I would definitely recommend them, and will be giving one as a gift this Christmas.
Size matters December 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Here's the information one may find useful before buying:
Positives: + Price (low) + It IS soft, no question about it + A relatively varied choice of colors and patterns
Negatives: - As with most 100% polyester blankets, static is something you will have to deal with - A little bit on the 'thin' side - Being a 6'2" person, a 60"x50" is too small for me
Overall it's not too bad, with the price being the big plus. I got myself 2 of these and the kids, who are not 6'2" yet, seem to like them. As for me, I'll have to learn to be more tolerant of static discharges and find a larger size throw.
great treat, I got 2 more December 4, 2008 I ordered the Water from the Gold Box, and after I received them ordered 2 more in Honey for my folks. SO cuddly
Dorm Delight - some still discounted! December 4, 2008 Columbia Coral Fleece Throw, HoneyI ordered a Columbia fleece throw to round out a care package for my away-at-college kid, and we both give it full marks. She says it's lofty and warm and yet compacts well for packing and storage. She liked the evenness of the color and the "hand" of the fabric. We make hand-tied double-fleece blankets, so she's had good experience in judging the quality and durability of various types of fleece.
College kids are notoriously hard on their possessions, and even when they're careful, communal washers and dryers mean that bedding and clothes take a beating. Since fleece can be washed with cold water, it's less likely that laundry detergent will leave residue, and if there's a queue for the communal dryers, a few quick snaps of fleece and it can usually be air-dried when draped over the backs of a couple of chairs, saving time and aggravation.
Me, I was happy to send my kid a virtual hug at an excellent $9.99 price point. WISE SHOPPER NOTE: Those who didn't shop that day should note that some colors are still available at similar savings.
