The Pigeon Rocks! October 30, 2008 When you spend as much time giggling as you do reading, you know it's a good book.
The pigeon's awesome. If you watch "Between the Lions" you're probably familiar with Knuffle Bunny. Same author, and even better.
We'll be collecting Pigeon books for as long as he keeps writing them. I don't care if my kid's too old.
no never sounded so sweet October 25, 2008 my toddler loves this book. makes him feel like he can read just like his big sister. a great way to release energy before going to bed. i recommend this entire series.
Use this book to deal with bedtime struggles September 23, 2008 Children recognize themselves when they read about the pidgeon who uses many delay tactics at bedtime. Children think it is funny, and adults will appreciate the help in getting their children off to bed.
All the excuses kids can think of... July 29, 2008 Mo Williems catches all the excuses kids can think of to avoid sleep. My 3 year old daughters typical excuses are 'I need a glass of water', 'I'm not sleepy at ALL' rubbing her eyes, even 'I have to clean the house'(taking a hint from my wife who has a habit of cleaning while I put the kids to bed.)
This book is hilarious because you can totally relate. I love how with each turning of the page, the background gets darker and darker. I love his Pigeon series but I have to say that this is my favorite.
Great book - for any time BUT bedtime! July 23, 2008 The pigeon throws all the standard tricks to get you to let him stay up late, you say no a lot, he falls asleep and dreams of having a hot dog party. Everybody's happy!
His arguments range the gamut from almost-sincere to positively silly to, of course, none at all. Great fun, can't find words to express that.
This book will tend to hype a kid up. If you are reading this at bedtime, put another, calmer book after it in the line-up. Something like "Goodnight Moon" or "Goodnight, Mr. Night" or "The Going to Bed Book". However, for daytime storytelling this is definitely great for the more fidgety kids, who get distracted at storytime easily. It *demands* audience participation.
