Cute book July 12, 2008 My baby really likes this book. My only wish is that the animals written names were consistent with the adult animal name (there is a kitten, a calf, some chicks, etc.) It really isn't a big deal, seeing as how he can't read and by the time he can read he will understand that babies are referred to by different names than adults. Overall, the pictures are nice, colors are vibrant, a great book.
Great book! August 27, 2007 My 16 month old loves this book. It has real photos of animals, not drawings, so he can easily identify them. he loves making animal sounds for each of the pictures!
A Solid Choice! April 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is sturdy, durable, visually interesting, well-designed and a great place to launch an infant's interest in books, photos and naming real-life animals that will be seen around the house, in the neighborhood and at the zoo. Bright Baby Animals is part of a wonderful series of board books which includes Bright Baby Colors and Bright Baby First Words (both of which I also highly recommend). Rather than confusing an infant's eyes with an array of images all at once, the nice thing about these books is that they are laid out very simplistically with one photograph and word per page on a solid-colored background. No clutter and no distractions. For the infant who is just starting to point at everything in the world and seek "identification tags", this entire series is the perfect first set of books.
Ever since he was an infant, my son has kept coming back to these books. I think it is because they can be easily adapted to teach a variety of concepts and they evolve to meet his constantly changing points of interest. I give this book five stars for a variety of reasons including the simple visual images it provides, the focused learning it encourages, and the variety of ways in which it can be used to teach not just animals, but also other concepts such as colors. With its beautiful photography of real-life animals set against simple, solid backgrounds, this book is definitely a solid choice with which to start your child's home library!
Great Animal Book November 3, 2006 This is a good vocabulary-builder. The pictures are gorgeous, and it has a nice selection of animals. My toddlers really enjoy reading it several times a day. It's a good size for tossing in my bag or in the car for outings, too!
Great book from birth on! August 22, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I ordered several books when my son was just a few weeks old and this is his favorite book. I call it his "first book". It is great because every other page has a white background for the stark contrast needed for newborns, yet every OTHER page has a different color background. The book has great photos and color. Recommended for anyone looking for a good book to introduce to a newborn. I ended up buying several more books by Bright Baby....
