5-month old loves it August 27, 2008 My 5-month old son loves this book - he squeals and laughs at each page. As he grows older I know he'll enjoy it more and more.
We love Millie Moo! June 22, 2008 This is my 11-month-old son's favorite book. He crawls over to a stack of books, where he knows it is, and pushes them all aside until he finds it. It is a really cute book. The story is silly and the illustrations are colorful and imaginative.
Great book! May 25, 2008 Our two-year-old LOVES this book. It's great for tactile stimulation as well as teaching animal sounds... with plenty of fun thrown in. This has become our new favorite.
What a creative and cute book December 12, 2007 I delayed purchasing this lovely book, since I felt that it had maybe one drawback. (Even though I fell in love with it when I saw it at Borders.) The premise of this touch-and-feel book is that a cow is searching for her barnyard friends. While you get to peek and feel some of the texture of the next page, you totally expect it to be the sheep, horse, the duck, etc. But what makes this book so fun (for adults) is that instead of the yellow feathers which obviously should belong to the duck, you see that it actually belongs to a painted panda! Every page is filled with unexpected animals (the monkey in a sweater or a bear in a tutu) until you finally find all the typical barnyard animals at the end. The only reservation I have is that unless your child is familiar with the different animals, they wouldn't really get the irony in this book. That is, unless they knew that ducks were supposed to comes with fluffy yellow feathers (and not pandas) and that sheep come with soft white wool (and not monkeys in sweaters), they'd miss the comic point of this book and could (maybe, possibly) even get confused. I waited a few months more for my 18 month old to learn to recognize different animals from her other books, then bought this immediately from Amazon. She loves it and pulls it out all the time. The one other complaint is that the last page has large flaps that you open and my toddler has already crumpled and folded it. I've gone ahead and reinforced the edges of these pages with packing tape before she could rip it. I'd say that it's the only weakness of this otherwise very durable book.
My son LOVES this book! December 2, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I picked this book out for my son when he was 4 months old, and at 2 years now, he still loves this book! The colors, craziness, and touchy feely spots on the pages are great to get babies and toddlers engaged and interested in the book. Now that my son is a bit older, he loves the story, too. I like the nonsensical, silly rhymes and I really like that the story can be longer or shorter depending on how much of a hurry I'm in at bedtime or how many times I've read the book that week. The story makes sense even if you just read the first part of each page. When reading with a one year old that wants to turn the pages quickly to feel the next page, shortening the story comes in handy. The only downside to the book is the pages that open out at the end will eventually probably get worn out or torn. I finally had to reinforce our back pages with packing tape, but I guess that's not so bad seeing that it's been read at least a hundred times in a couple of years. Also, as a former Kindergarten teacher, my son has LOTS of books to choose from to read at bedtime, and he still chooses this one several times a month!
