POS Carseat!!!!!! July 22, 2010 Voxon (California) After coming to terms that the Britax carseat was out of my price range I looked at Consumer Reports to see what the next best car seat was. Safety 1st Alpha Omega had made their recommendation list so I decided to purchase it. It was okay for the first couple months until the belts became harder and harder to tighten and loosen. It became so bad that we called Safety First complaining it was a safety issue since we could barely tighten the straps to secure our baby. The representative informed us that this was an ongoing problem. They required us to take pictures of the car seat. Once we emailed them and they confirmed their product was malfunctioning, they told us to mail the car seat to them and once it's been received, they would mail us a newer model. It sounded nice and generous at the time until we realized we needed to find a box big enough to fit the car seat and that we would not have a car seat for our baby for at least a week. After jumping through a few hoops we finally received our new car seat. We installed it and noticed the straps glided easier. That latest a couple weeks. It started to get harder and harder. We have had the new car seat for a couple months now and we have found we are right back were we started from. This seat is horrible!!!!!!!!! I can't believe Consumer Reports gave this a good review. Obviously not everyone has this problem. Perhaps it's our car. We have a 2004 Lexus RX 300. I hope this review helps
Not a good rear facing car seat!!! July 5, 2010 james123` 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This car seat has got a lot of positive reviews and a few negatives ones. Usually I look at the negative proportion which tends to be small and think that these people just don't know what they're doing. However, after fighting with this seat and testing it for a weekend, I can say wholeheartedly that I'm sick of this seat and return. I'm using it as a rear facing seat for my 22 lb son. First of all, it should say that the seat won't fit rear facing in smaller vehicles, ie: Pontiac Vibe or a Honda Fit, without the front seats moving very far forward. The seat would be alright for size if you could skip the rear facing stage. Second, the seat is a major pain to install, unless you have small hands. To tighten the seat into place you have to reach your hand through a small opening and yank the securing strap tight and the edge of the hole is small and sharp. Third, the height adjustment levers have metal connectors that rattle while you drive. This can be seriously annoying, especially after you've spent way too much time trying to install this beast. Fourth, when rear facing, my son's head falls forward as he sleeps. It's like Safety First didn't test their design with actual babies sleeping in it. Even when the seat's reclined the head area is vertical. There's no way a baby can sleep without their head bobbing forward. We opted for the Evenflow Triumph Advance and it fits nicely in a smaller car and still has lots of growing room for our baby.
Hard Seam Hurts My Daughter's Legs June 30, 2010 Michael Clabough (Los Angeles, CA) We have had two of these for 7 months. My big gripe right now is that my 19 month olds legs hurt when she sits in the seat to the point that she says ouch and points at her legs. She has gotten into the habit of pulling her legs up and sitting in weird positions so that her legs don't rest on the seam between the two different fabrics. The seam is like a plastic tube between the fabrics. I would recommend looking at a different model.
I LOVE THIS CARSEAT! June 23, 2010 Christina Marie Mascorro This carseat is perfect. My baby was 10 months when I purchased this for him and what makes me happiest is that he loves it. He looks very happy when it is time to travel and he is very comfortable. It was easy to install and I love how it can recline to different positions. I have another baby on the way and want to buy another since it is for infants also.
horrible June 22, 2010 K. Ovalle (USA) The harness system is too small for my 22 month old son. He weighs 30 pounds and it pinches him and squeezes into his neck. I can't even figure this darn thing out anymore! All I know is it is already as loose as it can go. SO much for being able to grow into it.
