 Daughter loves this, and so do I! July 2, 2008
We bought this for our 2 year and 4-month old daughter, who was no longer comfortable in her old car seat. I knew she would love the pink color, but I was most impressed by the five-point restraint which can be used until 80 pounds. I had once bought a regular child's booster, which uses the car's own seat belt but I found that so scary. She is very tall for her age but slightly built, and I didn't have confidence that the regular seat belt would keep her in place. I returned the booster the next day.
Another thing I didn't like about a regular booster is that when the child is not in the car, the booster seat is not fixed to the seat itself. In case of a collision, it would be thrown about in the cabin and could become a lethal object itself. We definitely wanted a fixed booster with five-point protection that could work for years. Britax was the only one which did all of that.
We've had it in for two weeks now, and our daughter loves it. The seat arms move up and down, and as a feisty toddlar, she loves making the decision about whether to move them or not. We love the incredible protection, comfy seating space, and good looks of the seat itself.
To those detractors who say it is hard to install, I defy anyone to find a car seat that is "easy" to install. I've installed five car seats, and they have all required a bit of sweat to install properly. Sure, anyone can get one hooked in in a loose and messy way, but it takes muscle to get it safely and properly installed. Having said that, to me this seat is quite intuitive, and the latch attachments are the strongest and easiest to apply of the seats that we have owned. Invest the 30 minutes in figuring it out; that's a small price to pay for years of peace of mind.
Difficult to install, but great overall. July 1, 2008
I just recently bought this seat in the Red Rock color and had a fit trying to install it into my Corolla (no Latch in the car). After fighting with it for about an hour, I got it installed and secure. Now that that it's in the car, my son is very comfortable. The seat was easy to adjust for his size, and it looks like it will be easy as he continues to grow. Like I said before, it was very difficult to install without the Latch, but, now that it's in, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

It takes a while to get it tight using the latch method. It is difficult to cinch down the latch tight. One tip is to make sure the latch buckle is in the hole of the shell and you must pull from the inside of the seat. I had to use alot of force to get it tight.
You Need to know which way to install it for your use... June 25, 2008
This is the 4th Britax seat I have purchased. I bought the Frontier to replace an Advantage (glorified Roundabout) that my 3 year old daughter outgrew (95% height and weight). I also replaced a Marathon from another car even though she could still use that but I liked how the Frontier was a littler lower to the seat and thought it would be easier for her to get in herself. My 5 year old has the Britax Parkway booster which is my least favorite of the Britax seats and that is probably why they discontinued it. I was pleased when they came out with the Frontier with the 5 point harness.
I installed the Frontier in my Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan last night. Because she is just shy of the 40 lb limit for LATCH I had to use the seatbelt. The short belt path was too loose. Had to use the long belt path and it was very secure. It was a bit harder to install because the seatbelt only comes out so far and I had to bounce on the seat with my weight to get it to buckle.
The next morning when my daughter rode in it for the first time, I analyzed it and realized the van seatback was reclined too much. She needed to be more upright like her brother in the parkway.
Well, that was a lot harder to install with the seat not as reclined. It was a REAL challenge to get it buckled. I tried the short belt path again for giggles but it was just too loose. I was sweating by the time I finally got it buckled. Then, being a bit of a worrier, I wondered if it wasn't as safe with the buckle stretched to its limits. So I easily attached the LATCH anchors as a "back-up". Peace of mind is really all it was. I only gave it 4 stars because the long belt path is much harder to install than the short belt path. It seems like the long belt path was an "afterthought" after so many people were having difficulties with the original short belt path.
I still have to install my second seat into a Cadillac DTS when my husband returns from out-of-town. I am guessing because it is a car it will be much easier to install.
Overall, you can't beat Britax's quality. When we bought our first Britax (The Advantage) I had to do the sales pitch on my husband. He chose to purchase a much cheaper brand (Cosco) for his car. Needless to say he had it in our garage sale no more than 6 months later and I purchased a second seat (the Marathon) and never looked back!
The Frontier is nice and roomy and the side "wings" are not too big as in the Parkway booster. My daughter says it was more comfortable but then again she is only 3 and she thinks unicorns are real.
Install was a little tricky but worked out in the end June 25, 2008
Looks like a really good product and I was able to get a solid install after following the long seatbelt set up and lowering the back seat.
