Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars overall a nice carseat   January 5, 2008

Overall I like this carseat.. i have this as well as the combi double stroller. the features i like about his carseat are it is light weight and easy to carry, it has nice padding and an infant insert that makes baby nice and snug. this carseat does fit in some shopping carts, and doesn't fit in some, but in the ones it doesn't fit straight on, i just turn it sideways in the cart, and it fits fine. the base was a bit difficult to belt into the car since it is different than other bases i am usued to, but it had detailed directions on how to do it. also you have to make sure when you are putting the seat in to the base that it is actually locked in, you have to listen for 2 clicks and pull up just to be sure, because a few times i set the seat in and it wasn't all the way latched on when i thought it was. currently my baby is 2 months old and the way the seat belt is over her legs it makes it so she can't move her legs at all because the straps secure over her legs, i'm not sure if this is supposed to be like that or not. also you need to make sure the carrying handle is all the way up when riding in the car, which is different from most seats. also it is difficult to move carrying handle all the way back over the sun shade.. (i usued to move the handle all the way back with my sons carseat, but this one it is difficult, and actually i don't mind now that i'm used to it.) this works nice with the double stroller, which we use with our 2 year old.. the only thing is, the stroller is very narrow, so the carseat hangs over slightly in the area where the other kid sits, our son doesn't seem to mind, but for a larger kid it might not be comfortable. overall i would reccomend this carseat. the main reason i bought it was to go with the stroller.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent quality, worth the price   June 29, 2007

I got this infant car seat for my first daughter who was 8 lbs and 19 inches at birth. It was really too big for her and I had to use the infant positioning support and the additional GoldBug 2 in 1 infant head support when we took her home from the hospital. Our car was latch compatible so installation was easy. She grew quickly and we eventually bought a Britax Decathalon (the best convertible ever!) and I loaned it to my friend who had twins. She already had a Graco Snugride from her first child. Anyways, I noticed a lot of differences between the two carseats:

Pros:
Very well padded and washable cover. There was an extreme difference between the Snugride and the Connection padding and overall quality.

Security straps are well-constructed and didn't twist at all.

Seat is deep and narrow, which is good for small infants and somehow seems safer.

Installation of the base using LATCH in the bucket seats in the outboard (as opposed to the center) position was super easy and very secure. My husband and my friend's husband struggled with the Snugride base which didn't fit well except in the center position of the backseat. It kept tipping up and seemed loose. I think it was because of the bucket seats since they didn't have that problem with the first child and it was the same car (Acura TL).

Putting the carrier in the base and removing it was super easy.

Carrier has shorter handle which is a plus for shorter parents.

Cons:

Connection doesn't fit in the shopping cart upper area.

It's a bit expensive.

If you have the Combi Savvy Soho stroller, it was often difficult to tell if you snapped on the carrier since it would "snap on" and the carrier would indicate it was locked, but then one side wasn't attached. We usually would lift up on the carrier handle to check and then really push down hard to get it locked on.

The canopy is a bit small and doesn't provide enough sun protection in the stroller...it was also confusing to remove it to get the seat cover off.

All in all, I loved this car seat and felt it was safe and good enough for my friend's babies. She also informed me that she uses it a lot and puts the smaller twin in it since it was deeper.

1 out of 5 stars WARNING!!!   May 11, 2007

The latest, more vigorous crash tests have shown that nearly all infant car seats provide poor protection. Some seats snapped out of the bases and some of the LATCH belts broke. If you already purchased an infant car seat, it is safer to use it with the seat belt rather than LATCH (according to the crash test results). One of only two seats to perform satisfacorily was the original Graco Snugride. If you want the convenience of an infant car seat, this one is cheaper and very safe. If you are considering Graco Safe Seat because of the higher weight limit, please look at a convertible seat instead (Britax Roundabout is the best, although a little pricey).
