Satisfied customer September 24, 2008 I love the compact size of this carseat-a major selling point for me since I drive a compact car. The anti-rebound bar is a safetly feature I liked-and has the added bonus of being an extra "handle" when getting in and out of the car. In an ideal world, the canopy wouldn't be attached to the back of the seat and would have full range of motion, but that's minor compared to the other features I enjoy.
I only buy combi. August 29, 2008 I am a big fan of combi. I am a very small person, 100lbs when not pregnant, and this is a very light-weight carseat. We got the stroller that matches this carseat and it is great. My son isn't born yet, but I had combi with my daughter and loved it. I wouldn't buy another brand.
Cute August 7, 2008 We bought this car seat for our 5th child because it was so darn cute! We wanted something different. When we got it in the mail we were so excited, but that didn't last long. It is soooo hard to get out of the base. I have to wiggle it ALOT to get it out and with a sleeping baby - not a good idea. My husband can barely do it. It is also too heavy (even though all the reviews say it isn't). We also looked for 2 months for a stroller to use it with and couldn't find one to work. It does not have the traditional latch on the bottom to fit into a universal stroller frame or even on the grocery cart. Combi does make a stroller to use with it, but not in the Mandrin color option. Sigh... We have sadly sent it back and purchased another option and I am sad.
Things I do love are the handle, the foot safety bar and the material, but that is all.
not for everyone July 21, 2008 Be aware that the canopy of this seat retracts for no reason, which is particulaly disturbing when you live in a hot sunny state like Arizona. I thought ours might be defective but when I returned to the store the floor model had the same problem. Additonally, as previously stated the release button takes quite a bit of strength (easy for my husband, not so much for me).
Due diligence with manufactured date and recall. July 2, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ordered the Wasabi Shuttle at end of May '08. Checked the manufactured date (12/10/07) against the recent recall (units manufactured before 12/15/07)--which just proves Murphy's law and the state of my luck. As it turns out, the factory went ahead and retro-fitted the necessary part before shipping it out to Amazon.com; there are green inspection stickers on the carrier unit and box indicating this--but we had to call Combi to find out that's what it meant. Even though they fixed it before I ever received the car seat, I am deducting one star for not including CLEAR notification with the unit that it was already fixed.
Otherwise, the release mechanism (for detaching the car seat from the car seat base) requires about as much effort as any other unit from Combi's competitors; my wife's small hands can just manage it. Weight-wise it was a tad lighter than others--one selling point. The roll-bar at the foot of the car seat is a feature that no one else seems to offer--another selling point. It integrates with the Helio stroller to form a travel system (see my review on the Helio)--the final selling point for my wife.
