Works Great... best reception November 15, 2008 I'm telling you, after 4 other monitors that just did not work, this one is fantastic. No reception problems anywhere in the house or yard. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that when the power goes out, the parent unit starts beeping. Plus, you have to manually turn unit back on when power is restored. But that being said, this is by far the best monitor we have ever had. You won't have to better one for the money, plus it is rechargable that lasts all night. We've had ours for a year now with no problems. It works in large condo buildings at the beach really well also.
Love Love Love this Monitor!!! November 13, 2008 I'm not usually one to take the time to write a review, but i just have to share how great this monitor is! I was in the same thoughts as alot of other parents were- "i should get the graco imonitor because it's digital and graco and cool and i will not have any interference and it has a 2000' range"- So wrong! i bought the imonitor before the baby was born and tried it out and it failed miserably. we live in a typically sized suburban neighborhood lot and it barely made it to the end of our driveway without beeping out of service:(
So i returned it to target and got the Safety 1st, admittedly doubtful about it's quality bc it wasn't a "popular" name brand. But this monitor is awesome! For me, it goes about 4 houses over (probably abour 450') and is perfectly clear. i sometimes have to check to make sure it's still on- it is just that quiet. yes, the light on the baby monitor does blink when you have the parent monitor off, but i just put my baby monitor on the opposite side of his room (about 12' away) and i can still hear him perfectly clearly on the second volume level.
buy this monitor!! you will love it!!
Great...but needs an on/off switch November 11, 2008 I wanted to love this monitor...and there are many positive things about it. The sound quality is great. You won't hear every breath, but you will hear what you need to without all of the static. The design is simple and sleek. However, we live in a town where the power will go off for a minute or two very often. One would think this would not be a problem, but there is no on/off switch on the units so when the power goes off and switches back on, the parent receiver beeps very loudly and the only way to put the monitor back on in the babys room is to go in and physically turn it back on. Doesn't sound like it would be an issue...but after a month of owning this, it went back today to be replaced by the Sony Babycall. So far so good and just as good sound quality.
A good monitor... but could add some extras November 2, 2008 When we had our second child we needed another baby monitor, so we decided to go digital as all the other non-digital ones interferred with our original monitor. This is a great monitor, works fine, and it's nice not hearing the constant buzzing like our original one. I have two minor critiques: First, when the baby is crying, you can hear it, but there is no lighted noise indicator, so if you are watching a movie, or listening to something loud, you have to keep a close ear out. Secondly, I think it's a real bummer that there is only one receiver. We live in a large two story house, and it's great having one upstairs and one downstairs. But overall it is a great product.
Works great! October 12, 2008 I did loads of research on buying this monitor. It's small, sounds great and looks great as well. We dropped the receiver on our hard kitchen floor and absolutely nothing happened. I don't even think it got scratched. It's very easy to use and picks up a lot of the smallest volume, so if you're downstairs and your wife is in the room with the baby she can whisper softly in the room that she needs you and you'll hear it without disturbing your baby.
