Small Pieces: baby removes and chews on unsafe foam material! September 11, 2008 It us super cute but my baby (since 6 month) spends her time removing the little connectors and uses them as teethers and that is NOT OK because it is easy to get little pieces to come off and swallow by baby.
The material is Ethylene vinyl acetate and is not meant to be ingested!
Buy a simple foam mat with no small connectors
Good choice August 28, 2008 This is the best looking floor mat for my house. The other ones are cheap and cheesy looking. I think that it is worth the investment and have a good looking house.
Very happy with this item despite everyone else's reviews August 27, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am very happy with my play spot. I bought it for the following reasons: 1. I wanted to set aside a safe, clean area for my baby to play and explore where there would be no foot traffic 2. I wanted to protect my baby from hitting the floor and 3. I wanted something that would look nice in our loft apartment (most of the baby stuff out there is garish, ugly and in awful colors). Unlike other reviewers, I don't have any issues keeping it clean. Yes, it gets dusty, but no more than the rest of our wood floors (and we live near Ground Zero where there is a ton of construction/dust all over the place) and in fact, it is cleaner than the rest of the floors because we don't walk over it. In terms of the gaps, I don't have any issues because I'm not trying to protect the floor from the baby; rather, I'm trying to protect the baby from the floor. For this purpose, it works extremely well, especially during the transition period when the baby is still perfecting the art of sitting up. The design and colors are great; they don't cheapen the look of our loft unlike most of the baby things out there.
Since this product meets all of my needs, I give it 5 stars.
So far so good August 17, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
So far I'm glad I purchased this item for our 6-month old - granted it's a bit on the expensive side but I paid it anyway because I wanted the cute pattern and colors. I haven't had any problems with any wears or tears yet, but I am careful about what goes on or near it. I make sure we don't walk on it with our shoes or walk on it at all if we don't need to. I like the mat because it can easily be wiped clean and doesn't collect pet hair (we have a cat) like the carpet or a blanket would. I didn't have any problems assembling it or keeping the pieces together but then it's usually only myself and our daughter laying on the mat - things may change once she really starts teething and crawling and walking.
Not a good buy! Not durable, gets dirty quickly/hard to clean July 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It was a little difficult to put together but the biggest disappointment is how poorly it is holding up. THe foam is cheap and it stretches easily, leaving gaps. It's very difficult to clean and scratches easily. I've owned this matt for several weeks and have decided to keep a blanket over it because of how easy it gets dirty. Otherwise, I was on my hands and knees cleaning it each week. The soap and water would just seep through all of the cracks between the circles, squares and the "x"'s that hold it together with big gaps and it looked no better. We are using it on top of our hardwood floors so at least it's a cushion for my growing 7 mo twin boys! I am now looking for something with bigger sections, made with better materials and that attaches securely. My lesson learned- but maybe it will help you!
