 Love the crib! August 3, 2008
I was a little worried about this crib after reading these reviews, but we just assembled it and it is super solid and definitely worth the money to me. Unless we received a newer updated version of this crib, the wood is very solid and the screws were long and heavy duty (not 1/4"). I would highly recommend this crib. In my opinion, it's as solid and sturdy as it is beautiful!

Initally I chose this crib for it's style and space-saving ability (changing table sits on top of crib). This morning my 10 month old son had his knee twisted and jammed between the slats so badly that I didn't know if I'd be able to get it free. (And this wasn't the first time his leg has been stuck, only the worst.) He screamed the whole time I had to pry his little leg out. It was heart wrenching. I am very dissapointed that this bed is not as safe as it is beautiful. I recommend getting something that has much closer slats.

We picked this crib without seeing it in real life because they were only available for preorder at the time. We ordered it with the optional changing platform that goes over the crib so that we wouldn't have to have a separate changing table cluttering up the room. When it arrived, it was easy to assemble and we were thrilled with our selection. It is simple and beautiful for any modern nursery. Based on the measurements, we had thought the sides of the crib would be too low, but it looks great. We were able to leave the changing platform on the crib all the time for the first year but we now remove it because baby can walk around and could hit his head.
We were also concerned that the changing platform would scuff or scratch the finish on the crib and have been pleased that has not happened. We haven't gotten any scratches or nicks on the finish in the 16 months that we've been using it so far.
100% happy with this crib.

upon delivery one of the white rails was defected (the composite was cracking) so i was able to get a replacement. i should have taken this as a big caution sign. i've now owned this crib for 3 months. just yesterday when i was putting my 12wk old baby in the crib, i was leaning on the side to put him down when one of the legs of the crib collapsed. she was traumatized...i of course, mortified. i took her out flipped the crib over. while the perimeter of the base is solid wood, the actual part where the legs are screwed in is made of composite (cheap) wood. add to that, the screws used to screw the legs in are about 1/4'' long. i rescrewed the nails and when i went to put the crib right side up, another leg collapsed from the weight of the crib. this crib definitely would not be able to withstand the weight of a jumping toddler..one who may try to climb out and find that the whole heavy frame tipped over with him. OEUF is terrible and unsafe!!!
