Do NOT buy this craptastic product! November 8, 2008 You know the old expression: "you get what you pay for"? Well, in the case of the Giggle Bug Toddler Tracker (hereafter GB) you get LESS than you paid for.
At the time when I read the reviews for the GB on Amazon there were 3 strongly in favor and 3 strongly against. I (foolishly) figured those numbers equal out to an average quality device. For only ~$20 I decided it was worth it.
Oh, how wrong I was.
You see, the GB is cheap (in cost) because it is VERY cheap (in construction quality).
It has 50% love/50% hate reviews because it is sooo cheaply made that it arrives non-functional (or soon breaks) 50% of the time.
Guess how my roll of the GB dice turned out? Yep. Non-functional. Changed the batteries. Alarm blared uncontrollably at random intervals.
Returned it, they sent another: broke in half the first time we used it (without any rough use from our child). Absolutely craptastic. $20 is no bargain if it is 50% likely to NOT work.
We found a better overall reviewed device (more expensive) that works great and is sturdy.
Child trackers are a great idea, but get one that is sturdy and with good reviews. Yes, you will have to pay more for it... isn't your child worth the money? I wouldn't buy my dog one of these crappy Giggle Bugs.
Hmmm... great in theory October 9, 2008 I guess this is good idea, but it's a little tricky to clip on to back of the child's shirt... My son can feel it so he's always trying to get it off. Plus, it's hard to reset the sound button.
little value October 29, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my son when he turned 2 as he is a runner. He thought it was cute but there was no way we keep him from removing it from his clothes as it just clips on. We tried butting it in a pocket of his clothes but could not get it to work. We were better served by the backpack monkey harness. I couls have sold 20 of those in the airport during out trip.
Great idea, very disappointing product April 26, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I thought this was a clever idea for helping me find my toddler in a department store. It was $20 wasted. First it took 4 1/2 months to get because of backorders getting pushed back. Second, it isn't loud enough in most stores because the beep can not be heard most of the time over the music. Works fine if the store is fairly empty and playes subdued music. Third, after a month it stopped beeping. It buzzed and vibrated for hours. I took the battery out hoping to reset the bug. This didn't work. The buzzing continued after replacing the battery with a new one. I don't know if I just got a dud but it's overpriced and failed me miserably.
I can't hear you March 25, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Good idea but does not work. The bug's siren is so quiet there is no way I would trust the safty of my child with this thing. I thought it was going to be loud like the person alarms that make that high pitch sound.
