I love this! I have to say it is probably one of my favorite things of my daughters. I didn't realize that it was to promote sitting up, I wish I would have bought it sooner. This is a must have for babies at like 2 1/2 months.

We received this as a Christmas present when my daughter was about 3 1/2 months old. At that point, she absolutely loved it b/c she could hold her head up really well, but she couldn't sit up. This chair was almost like having another set of hands. I could set her in the bumbo on the floor in the kitchen while I was getting dinner started, and she was thrilled to be able to watch me while sitting upright. She didn't figure out how to squeeze out of it until about 9 months or so. Now she's 23 months old, and she actually still likes it. She's slender for her age, so she still fits in it. She likes to drag it out to the living room and sit in her own chair while the adults are sitting on the sofas.
When she was still an infant, I would take it with me to visit friends and family b/c it served well as portable high chair while I was still feeding her everything from a jar. (Obviously, now that she's feeding herself, it wouldn't work that way anymore!) My mom always asked me to bring it when my daughter stayed w/ her for the same reason.

I have a 3 month old that is rather large for her age and has been holding her head up for about 6 weeks now. She gets frustrated at not being able to do things and I have found that putting her in the bumbo helps. She likes to see her world from a different perspective and is heavy enough that a boppy doesn't seem to help her sit up much, it just sort of slides away from her on the floor. That being said, she has to be in the mood... if she is in a wiggly mood it is pure torture to her, but is quite happy if she has something interesting to watch. I love the portability- which is why you should buy this vs. just a highchair. I have a greenhouse and like the ability to let her sit and watch me.
I would highly recommend this product for many babies, but as anything depends on the personality of the child... So borrow one to try first. If it keeps her happier for 3 months, I am ok with the price. Just wish there was a tray with a fixed toy so she couldn't throw the toy off.

We got our Bumbo as a shower gift, and I am so glad that we did! My daughter loves to sit in her Bumbo! When she was in her bouncer seat, she was too reclined and couldn't look around. In her Bumbo she is very content and likes to observe the world. She sits in her Bumbo on the floor while I cook dinner and she has a great time watching me as I narrate. :) She also likes when I put her in the Bumbo outside on the lawn. We sit in the front yard and we watch all the people and cars go by. She plays with her toys and we blow bubbles. She is 5 months old now and she has been sitting up by herself for a few weeks. I think that the Bumbo gave her some added strength and inspiration to sit by herself. I am aware that the Bumbo can be tipped over when the children are bigger, but if that's the case, don't put them in the Bumbo anymore! Just like any other baby product, it is not meant to be used forever. We love it for now, and we'll use it with our other children in the future!

I don't know where all of these poor reviews are coming from, because I think the bumbo seat is great. It helps the baby (4+ months) learn to sit up and be able to hang out with mommy or daddy. Bouncy seats are reclined, so that doesn't train baby to sit up. I personally LOVE the bumbo seat for my baby. She hangs out in it, especially since she hates laying down or being reclined. It provides support for babies who can't sit up on their own, and it doesn't take up any space, it fits right in a closet when you want to put it away. I recommend this chair for babies who can't sit up on their own. Best of luck.
