We could not live without this. We traveled a lot with our daughter when she was between 4-10 months and this was essential for carrying her around airports to keep her safe and our hands free.

I haven't tried another brand or used it much, when I start using it more my opinion might change.
When I do use it, it seems I have to take it completely apart for me to get it on correctly. A lot of straps to mess with, I understand that it is for my own comfort but a little annoying.
I do like how snug my baby is. I like the option of him facing towards or away from me. I also like how it doesn't seem strenuous on my back to have him in the carrier. It's great for me to have him in it while I'm vacuuming or other house work.

i hate the bbj for several reasons & i look forward to the day when scientific evidence of the damage it does will be enough to pull it off the market.
1) the seat is too narrow, putting all of baby's weight onto the crotch, contributing to spinal compression. it is especially damaging to boys as the weight rests entirely on his testicals.
2) the legs are left to dangle stright down (see above), which does not promote proper hip development. in indigenous cultures the baby is worn with his legs spread or froggy-style, with belly contact against the wearer's body. this position allows the hip balls to properly connect to the socket. this also allows for baby's weight to be distributed across the entire bottom & thighs. can you imagine straddling a bicycle seat all day & not being able to touch your feet to take the weight off your crotch?
3) facing out for extended periods is not healthy for little ones. the world is big & too much stimulus can quickly overwhelm a baby, who is unable to turn away & bury his face in your chest. it is also vital for a bby to be able to see your face & gauge your reactions to people & events. they learn how to interact with the world by watching you, but if they are thrust out in front of you like a ship's head, this is impossible.
invest in a mei tai or other similar carrier, NOT the bjorn.

What can I say, if you love to take your baby for a stroll in the neighborhood or hike a short trail where stroller can not access, This is the solution. My baby is so comfortable in this thing and she can do whatever she like. When she is ready to graduate into the front forwarding position, it gave her great pleasure being able to investigate the surroundings. She can also fall in sleep in it. This tells you how comfortable it is.
 Uncomfortable and Uneasy January 26, 2008
I only used this once or twice. I found it hard to manipulate. I never felt safe with it, and it never felt secure. My baby cried the whole time she was in it.
