Fisher-Price has managed to combine the cozy comfort of their Papasan infant seats with the functionality of a cradle swing. Strap baby into the swing with the padded three point harness. The two reclining positions allow for playtime or naptime. When it's time for play, clip on the snack tray with bead bars and play eight different happy tunes while the star mobile bobs up and down and around. When it's time for rest, remove the snack tray and start the swinging. The soothing six-speed cradle swing will rock in the traditional fashion from left to right, or spin the cradle 90 degrees and it will rock front to back. Eight new lullabies will play and the cradle projects a spinning star-scape onto the canopy to have baby minutes from slumber. The nicest feature is that it allows for any iteration of motion, music, and mobile movement. It can be plugged in or run on four D batteries (it is recommended using AC power). The seat pad is removable and machine-washable, and the recommended age is birth and up with a maximum of 25 pounds. --Scott Teal

Mommy's little helper September 4, 2008 This is the only piece of baby gear that will allow me to get things done because my child will actually nap for good stretches of time (1-3hrs). I love it! In her crib, I get an hour at most. As a busy homemaker, you can't get much done in that time before the little one is crying for attention or a play buddy.
As other reviewers commented, the music does shut off after a short period of time, but I don't find it annoying to turn it back on. Plus, she has usually fallen asleep by that time so music is no longer needed. One alternative is to pop in a Baby Einstein DVD while your baby is swinging. No need for music there!
My only complaint is that the seat sits a little off to one direction. I'm not sure it that is just the way my husband installed it or if others have had this problem. It really isn't that big a deal though. It is only slightly off center, not enough for it to cause balance issues or for me to worry about safety.
Other than that, this is a wonderful product. Amazon had it at the best price. I looked elsewhere and no one could beat it.
LOVE this swing! September 4, 2008 I ordered the Starlight Papasan Cradle swing about a month ago for my daughter. I chose this one because of the PLUG IN feature--you do not have to use batteries!! My daughter loves the swing and I have been using it since she was about a month old. The fact that you can choose to have music, lights, mobile all going at once, or any combination of the three makes it really nice. And what's even nicer than that is there is a volume control! There was a review that I read about the swing where someone said that the music and mobile, etc... shut off after about 7 minutes. Well, in my experience with this particular swing I found a "solution" to that. If you keep the music going (or the nature sounds or whatever sound option you choose) then the music and mobile don't shut off at all. You can turn the volume down if you don't want to hear it too loud, but in order for it not to shut off every 7 minutes you do need to keep the sound on. The swing is beautiful and I believe this one to be gender neutral. The colors are a soft buttercream yellow and a light periwinkle. I love this swing and I would definitely recommend it!
Great swing and great price! September 4, 2008 This swing is amazing. We have tried swings that rock front to back and our son hated them. This swing is so soothing and was easy to assemble. It comes with all the bells and whistles at such a great price. We have three kids and this swing is one of the best purchases we have ever made for any of our kids.
Fantastic Choice!!! (Even with the little quirks) August 31, 2008 This swing has been a life saver! We have been actively using this swing throughout my son's first year (and have plans to use it as long as his size will safely allow).
There are a few things that we happily learned to work around/live with. -As with any swing, if your baby is too light weight, you may need to hang a blanket or something with a bit of weight to it on the arm of the swing. This slows it down so that even the smallest baby can enjoy the rocking motion. -Also, my son never liked the toy bar that came with the swing. Easy enough to fix, we removed it. -Yes, at first the mechanics did seem a little loud, however the constant sound seemed to soothe him. And thankfully the music/nature sounds on the swing worked perfectly -He has always been rather long, and curious, so the upright position only worked for a very short time. Again, easy enough to fix, I tilted the swing back and he has loved every minute of it. - When he reached the point where he could grab a hold of the mobile, I simply stopped turning it on. He enjoyed just staring up at himself in the mirrored dome. - the Legs of the swing allow you to spread them out or in, in order to gain better stability. It was only at around 8 or 9 months that I began to encounter an issue with him leaning over the sides (curious!! Normal for a child!! Be smart about it and as with any toy/swing -- always be aware of what your child is doing).
I highly recommend this swing. I have seen/tried other swings at the homes of friends and family, and hands down this would be the one that I would choose again and again.
Mommy's!....this is a must have! August 29, 2008 My little girl would stay in this swing all day if I would let her. All mommy's told me that this was one thing that you can't live with out and they were right. At first, I bought a less expensive swing and she hated it...what a waste of money. Then I bought the papasan swing and sometimes it is the only thing that can make her happy. I love it so much I bought another one for my friend that just had a baby too! This is a must have for all mommy's!
