At first I didn't think getting the tray was necessary and I really didn't think the little toy mattered. Why couldn't I just give my son one of his other million toys to play with while he sat in his BebePod?!? I'm so glad I got both tray and toy, though. The tray really helps to hold him in the seat better. I was able to use the pod much earlier than I would have otherwise. And the toy is awesome. Since it sticks into the tray it stays put better for him to hold on to and gnaw on. It's definitely teething-friendly. It keeps him entertained while I do dishes or get a quick bite to eat. And now that he's started solids I feed him his "meals" while he sits in it, since the high-chair is still a little too big. Don't worry the toy is easy to detach and it even comes with a couple of place mats for the tray. This accessory is definitely worth the money.
