Best Gift for Little Music Lovers June 29, 2008 This was a gift for my son for his 2nd birthday. He absolutely loves being in control of his music--we primarily use the mp3 downloads in the "favorites" mode of the player so I can't comment on the other modes. He learned how to use the play, skip and back buttons in less than a day, and the "pajamas" nicely hide the volume buttons so the volume stays right where I set it. It seems very durable as he's thrown it on the floor multiple times and nothing has happened. The only tip I can give is to buy rechargeable batteries if you want to leave it on/idle throughout the day (so your little one can do it by themselves without needing you to turn it on each time). Otherwise you'll be replacing them weekly! Overall a great product that can grow with your child for years to come as their music tastes change.
Easy to use, but... June 29, 2008 The sound quality is good, and I like the fact that little ones can "play" their own music. But: 1) I wish it came with a power cord so you didn't have to rely on batteries all the time! I hope Playskool and Creative Labs consider that for future models. 2) It would be nice to be able to upload more than 2 hours of music. But I also know it's a kid's product, and not an ipod.
Update: After trying out this mp3 player at the store, we chose the SweetPea3 player instead. It holds a lot more music, my toddler can easily carry it around, and it's covered in rubber to protect it from falls.
A good product, with an important caveat for i-tunes users January 5, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Our baby has enjoyed this player since she received it as a gift (at about 2 months of age). She loves the music and the lights. There are some drawbacks. First, we did experience some technical difficulties and had to return the original for a replacement. So far the replacement is working nicely. Second, it is important to note that music purchased from i-tunes will not play on this windows-based product because the i-tunes files are "protected." We have successfully played the songs it came with. Among the songs that come with the MP3 unit, we very much enjoy the "playtime" songlist, but don't particularly care for most of the songs on the "soothing" playlist (because the woman's voice is too playful sounding for bedtime). However, we ripped our own CDs and put our own soothing music on the player and it works great... biggest drawback is just the i-tunes situation because we rarely purchase CDs anymore.
Great product! Only 1 design flaw. January 3, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
We bought this for our 3 year old son. He loves it. The software is super easy to use. My Son's attention span isn't as long as the amount of music this can hold. My only complaint is the voice record feature. It is one button on the mp3 player and if your child pushes it it will record automaticly. Any and all sound including interference from other electronic devices. Makes a terrible sound. You then have to plug the MP3 into your computer to erase all the files recorded via the voice record button. Also, these voice record files land under the favorites category. This is the first category that comes on whenever you turn on the unit. A possible way to avoid this is to fill up the MP3 as much as you can so there is no room for recording. However it is hard to find that exact golden number so that you have 000 MBs/KBs left. I have yet to hit that nail on the head. Aside from this one long winded complaint I would reccomend this unit even though it is a bit $$.
