Brilliant! September 1, 2008 I LOVE this product. I have a little girl and this definitely takes the "eeww" out of taking her to a public restroom. I've also taken it to the park and it fits on those toilets too. I only wish the bag it came in was better. It comes in a ziplock bag.
very useful August 20, 2008 When my baby got potty trained, I bought a Fisher Price portable potty for use in the car and it's great, but i was looking for something smaller, to be able to carry in my purse. I ordered this seat in spite of all the negative reviews and I'm glad I did. If you put seat on the very front of the toilet, as one of the reviewers has already mentioned, not the back or in the middle, it works just fine. My only complaint is that it's not made of very thick plastic, so it bands slightly when my 2 year old seats on it. But if you hold your baby, while she's using the seat, as I do, it's not a problem either. I tested it on a quite a few public toilets and overall it's very useful and I'm glad I got it.
A little flimsy, but helps get the job done August 19, 2008 The fit on the seat isn't intuitive, but other reviewers who described how to seat the front lip in front of the potty were very helpful.
My son is 30 lbs., and the seat does bow in a little from his weight, but doesn't collapse entirely. For a boy, one should keep repeating, "Point it down, point it down," because there is no splash guard for absent minded boy toddlers.
I can see how a little tush might get pinched if the seat were not completely unfolded before he sat down, so it's important to make sure it's completely flat.
The design of going over the front of the seat makes sense now, as it minimizes contact between those curious little hands and a dirty public toilet seat. I keep Lysol wipes in my pouch to clean the bottom side of the seat before folding it up and storing it again.
It fits easily into a small diaper bag or a large purse. It's definitely something I want on hand on trips to friends' houses or public places.
I wish it were a little sturdier and there were a good way to avoid the possibility of pinching, but I will say my 2 year old is particularly squirmy, and he hasn't fallen in or yelped in pain yet.
The bottom line is, it is functional, although not perfect, and I would buy it again if I needed to replace it.
Great product - others are not using it correctly July 7, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product does a great job. It helped me with my concern of putting my child on a dirty public toilet. As she was starting potty training, she would immediately reach down to grab the toilet seat and plus was unstable without a potty seat. The reviewers who gave a poor review for fit and pinching are not using it correctly. We have never had this problem. If you place the seat on the toilet as it is pictured on the box, then, it won't fold, pinch, or fall into the toilet. Allows you to go out with a portable potty seat. Gives you and your toddler confidence when out in public.
there are better portable potties out there June 30, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I found that this potty was easy to unfold, but had gaps between where they pieces connect, making it very easy for a child to get pinched. Also, I put it on my toilet, and put a bit of weight on it, and it bowed easily, so I was very worried about putting my child on it. Especially since I had gone back and read other negative reveiws on it. We ended up getting a regular potty seat and putting it in the car. It fits in the bottom of the stroller, so I always have it with me.
