Good Stoller, but not Great May 20, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this stoller a year ago and continue to use it with my, now 23 month old. It's an okay jogger, but based on feedback from other jogging moms, the BOB is by far the best all around. If you don't have the extra cash to get the BOB, this is a decent back up, esp if your not a marathon runner. I'm a casual jogger. Pro's - it rides nice and smooth - they have fantastic customer service (see con's) - rain shield is a bonus (though only used it one or twice, as i generally will not head out if there's rain in the forecast. - handles gravel pretty well - overall lightweight (esp. in comparison to many others)
Con's - had A LOT of issues with it vearing to one side or the other ... I followed the directions to straighten out the tire. In the end I'm pretty sure the frame was not aligned properly. Customer service was fantastic & replaced the entire bike w/out question. HOWEVER, the new one they sent did not come with the basket (even though we discussed that I had the model w/the basket) and it was almost IMPOSSIBLE to pull the bar out to collapse the bike. Needless to say, I had them send me yet another bike. All that said, I'm still very satisfied with how customer service handled it ... very prompt, very customer service oriented (something you almost never find anymore). Kudos' to them! - the pull bar to collapse it is still a little tight and tends to stick on occassion, but at least I can always get it down eventually. - a bit cumbersome to make turns ... hard turns as well as just bends in the road. In hindsight I really wish I bought one w/a swivel wheel. I don't know who prefers a straight wheel. - the basket is VERY low to the ground and not very secure. - it reclines almost a little too far; even at it's most upright position. - there isn't a locking mechanism to keep it collapsed for easy transferring to/from vehicle.
Thought, I listed a lot of "cons", I still think it's a good bike. From feedback I've gotten re: other bikes, they seem pretty typical (no locking mech., low basket, recline too far, straight vs swivel wheel, etc).
Oh, I should also add that Schwinn doesn't even make this bike ... if that matters. I actually bought this based on Schwinn's reputation, however it appears they have just slapped their name on InStep for marketing purposes (well, I was a sucker, so it worked ... and I'm a little upset with them for that).
1st time jogger owner, 2 thumbs up December 27, 2007 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Asides from getting a great price on this jogger, I bought it because of all the features. It is lightweight aluminum which is important for me since I am marathon training, not resistance training. It is also equipped with a weather shield and cupholder standard which I though were excellent features. One consideration I was skeptical on was straight v.s. unlockable front wheel. Now that I have used the jogger for a few weeks.... I am happy with the quality, my baby girl (9 months today) is happy with the comfort and loves going out with me and my wife for running / roller blading. The stroller handles bumps well and generally handles well. I am happy with the speed and ease of use. I have not run further than 10 miles with it yet, but only because my training has not yet called for it. The cupholder is useful on the long runs were hydration is important. The tray is helpful for keys and snacks for the baby. The undercarriage storage is a little weak, but then again I don't plan on using this for jogger for going to the mall so it is not a negative for me (although it may be for someone else). The fold up mechanism works well. I don't have space contraints due to large vehicle but the 20" rear wheels would eatup alot of trunk space. The stationary front wheel is great for control during runs, and since I am not using it for errands I have no need for the front wheel to turn on a dime. All in all a great value and a good quality item. Would recommend to any of my friends in the market for a jogger.
Great Solution September 24, 2007 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
This stroller is everything I had hoped it would be. I live on gravel roads and also use the stroller over rough areas in my yard and it works wonderfully. The baby is comfortable and the stroller rolls almost without effort.
