Wish I'd done more research July 20, 2008 We've used this stroller & carseat for 4 months now. I'll never buy 'Baby Trend' brand again.
Stroller:
Cons: Heavy; cumbersome to fold/unfold (takes both hands & a foot); bulky when folded; latch that keeps it folded is flimsy & designed improperly (the stroller can fold much tighter than the latch will allow); tires don't hold air; canopy doesn't pivot fully forward (a problem when the sun is in baby's eyes); and saving the worst for last - the swivel front wheel shakes on demand when you're trying to push in a straight line, so you have to stop completely & start again, hoping it doesn't shake. The only way around this is to lock the front wheel in place, but then you have to tilt back to turn, which causes baby's head to flop forward when using the carseat.
Pros: Seems to ride smoothly, and looks cool.
Carseat:
Cons: Like others have said - insufficient lateral head support for baby; belts twist within latches VERY easily, but are oddly difficult to twist back; latch must be held together & inserted into buckle at once (other latches allow left, then right insertion - MUCH better); handle is difficult to reposition; seems very uncomfortable.
Pros: Matches cool-looking 'jogger' stroller.
Do your baby a favor & buy something else.
Good system June 7, 2008 I love the stroller and the fact that it doesn't get stuck over every little bump. It takes some getting use to maneuvering though. The carrier part is good but does not protect baby's head very well. You need to get your own head protection to keep baby's head from flopping all over the place. Not crazy about the buckling system because it's more complicated than it should be. But easy handle to carry in and out and back and forth. Overall, it's a good travel system and I would recommend it to a friend with a side note to get your own head protection.
Not really impressed April 29, 2008 ALthough the concept is a great idea, I feel this product was poorly manufactured. The first one I purchased was missing several parts and we returned to the store for exchange(after lugging the stroller- which doesn't fit in either of our cars- saab and Toyota sedans w/o removing the wheels). The second one is also missing screws to secure the foot board. Although minor, it attests to the poor attention to detail that in the process' of this stroller. Secondly, when going even slight faster than a moderate walk (>3.5 mph) the stoller shakes if the front wheel is not locked. Often time the hand trigger does not work- so you are forced to stop your walk (or jog/run) to fix this. While the concept is nice, still has a little way to go. I would try other models even if more expensive first--
Can't imagine what I would do without it! February 7, 2008 We love the stroller system. I have the tan one but it looks exactly the same. I didn't have a hard time at all putting it together. It has the locking wheels like a mountain bike. I also love jogging and I was able to hit the road when the baby was a few weeks old! I always felt that the baby was safe in it. If you are running down hill or too fast without the front wheel locked in it is really shaky. That is my own fault for not locking down the front wheel. Jogging strollers are supposed to have a stationary front wheel for stability. I love the fact that it can be unlocked! It is so easy to steer and manuver! I have tried other strollers with 4 wheels and they don't even compare! My baby is now almost a year old and I love that I can put him in this and the seat is adjustable (it can recline) and it has a 5 point harness. I love that it can grow with him... The only criticisms that I have is that it takes up the whole trunk when folded down, I don't LOVE the triangle handle on the infant seat, and I sometimes have to manually lock the front wheel down.
DO NOT buy from Baby Trend! Worst Customer Service EVER!!! February 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We thought we could get a great product at an affordable rate and bypassed the higher-end lines and we decided on the Baby Trend Expedition Jogger/Infant seat travel system. At first pass it worked fine and we were pleased overall. Several weeks into owning the stroller we noticed that the front wheel became excessively shaky when not in the locked position. It was very difficult to maneuver with the wheel locked all the time, as we use the stroller for every day use.
We called and were told to check and adjust the tire pressure. This didnt fix the problem and were told to try another fix, which also didnt work. When we called a third time it was suggested we ship the stroller back.
After we finally found a box large enough to ship this stroller back, we shipped it in tact to Baby Trend to be repaired. Several weeks later I called and followed up and was told it would be returned within 10 days. We got home and opened the box to our surprise, our stroller had been shipped back unassembled! The issue we had was the unstable front wheel, and the wheels had been removed, negating the correction! Worse still, the screws and hardware we shipped in tact with our stroller had been removed AND NOT REPLACED! Baby Trend took apart our stroller and sent it back without the parts or means to put it back together!
The footrest on the front of the stroller has no hardware for us to put it back on, and the tray that the car seat rests on has no screws and pulls out when touched, meaning the car seat CANNOT be placed in the stroller! If I hadnt pulled it out first, I could have put my child in the stroller and he would have fallen immediately out of it. How could this happen, how could they send a stroller back with no parts and with a blatant safety hazard, as though it hadnt been checked at all?
Worst of all, they have told us simply that there is "nothing they can do" and they refuse to fix the problem. They tell us the parts are on backorder and they have 'no idea" when they will be available. Meanwhile, I have no stroller and no means to get my 4 month old around. SO frustrating!! Totally unacceptable, we sent it WITH PARTS and they sent it back without parts, and won't rectify the situation. I have a stroller in my living room for a month that I simply cannot use. And they are fine to leave it that way, that we're just out of luck?? Its just wrong. Don't buy from this company, they DO NOT stand by their product. Check Consumer Affairs before you buy from them, I only wish we had.
