One of my son's favorite July 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My 2 year old son got this for his birthday in December and he still plays with it often. We also got him a "Bob Builder" tool belt. He puts the toolbelt on and then works at his toolbench. He has very few toys that have continued to capture his interest, but after 7 months, he is still excited about this toy!

Desepcionada pues de haber visto el tamano real del producto no lo hubiera adquirido por el precio que pague.
Not really a 'workbench'. But my 2 yr old son loves it. May 1, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
This was one of my son's Christmas gifts from Santa, right before he turned two. He immediately loved it. Loud & catchy Bob the Builder song, bright flashing buttons that make sounds when pushed, and tools...what's not to love for an active toddler?
My problem is that it has almost no educational value as a workbench toy. The first annoying thing- it has a poorly cut off ruler- the 1 and 11 units are shorter than the others...pretty lame!
Other problems we have w/ the toy:
- the first nail has a flaky light that doesn't always come on, which makes the follow-me game almost useless. Probably could be fixed, but the screws to open the toy don't have standard heads - they're triangles.
- Also, the toy screws are don't turn easily or smoothly - they click at each 1/12 turn. I would've preferred more realistic screws that got tighter as they were driven into the board.
- It's too difficult to use the hammer to hit the nails for the follow-the-light mode. It can get frustrating trying to hit the nails hard enough or squarely enough to activate it - my son ended up just pushing the nails w/ his hand, sorta defeating the purpose of it being a workbench toy.
But 4 months later my son still enjoys this toy a lot, especially the screwdriver which he uses on anything that he sees needs 'fixing'. So while it probably gets a big thumbs up for fun from the little one, it gets low ratings for educational value from mommy.
I guess if you could look at it as two separate toys - a set of tools to play with, and a push-button type toy, then there's value in it. But if you're looking for a good, realistic-functioning workbench toy, don't buy this one.
Good Fun For Pretend Play October 26, 2006 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
My 17 month old loves his tool bench. He takes the hammer and saw around the house with him, pretending to cut and hammer all of our furniture - very cute. He also likes the lights and Bob's voice on the toolbench itself, and will talk back to the toy "Ok, Bye!" when he's finished playing. I find the volume to be a bit loud on the sounds and music, and like most toys, it doesn't have volume control. Other than that I thought it was a good value.
