Excellent for relieving soreness September 11, 2008 When I was breast feeding my son he had difficulty latching on. I used hand pumps, and the Medela pump. The Medela pump is worth the money. When my son was able to latch these shields helped me through the soreness. And my beautiful baby loved them. After a few weeks the shields were no longer needed. I recommended them to all mothers. I will purchase when we have our second child. :)

Flat nipples, no problem! August 24, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
(Written by user's wife) I didn't find out until we had our son that I have flat nipples. He could never feed for more than 5 minutes without getting mad and crying. He wasn't getting enough food so we spent hundreds of dollars on a Medela pump, plus many accessories for it, bottles, etc. For a month I would pump, then feed him. It took up over an hour each time I had to feed him. Finally I decided to try one more thing, this shield. I cried the first time I could feed our baby from my breast, instead of from a bottle. No more pumping, sterilizing, washing bottles, having my husband feed him at night so I could pump, heating up bottles while he cried. Please try this product, especially if you have flat nipples, and learn from my mistake. Don't wait a month!
I could not have breastfed without this product during the first few weeks! February 9, 2006 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
My baby had a hard time latching on in the beginning. She was premature and didn't quite understand how to latch on and suck successfully. She lost 20% of her birth weight in the first 3 days home and I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep breastfeeding her. We went to a lactation consultant and she suggested these nipple shields. They worked wonders. My baby only had to use the shields for a week or so until it became natural. I would have given up on breast feeding if it wasn't for these shields. These also help with sore nipples.
