Does the job but not our favorite November 18, 2008 Our favorite bottles are the Evenflo fashion tints - they're also BPA free and about the same price as these. We're not bottle snobs by any means!!!
I tried these because the store had only these, no Evenflos. They seemed so similar, I thought it would be fine.
We got the ones with the silicone nipples. Latex wigs me out. Who wants to taste rubber?
The nipples are a little skinnier than the Evenflo ones. One baby showed some dislike for this, the other didn't seem to care (I have twins). It wasn't a huge deal.
What I really didn't like, though, was that these bottles seem to collapse on us. The baby will get to sucking and the bottle starts to cave in, the nipple collapses, you have to pull the bottle out and let it puff back up. Maybe it's because they don't vent as well as the Evenflos or maybe because the plastic is thinner - the Evenflos feel sturdier.
Basically they're adequate but not our favorite. We use them when everything else is dirty.
The price is nice, you can pump into which is nice (though I suggest the SMALLER ones for pumping) - I just don't like how they collapse. For the same price get Evenflo in the bpa free - you'll be happier. If this is all you can find, though, it'll do.
Great bottle May 6, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After trying all kinds of expensive BPA free bottles, many with fancy vents and breast-like shapes, I happened upon these and decided to go back to basics and give these a try. Holy cow! They are awesome! My son is quite a spitter and it has reduced this problem by at least 90%. He is happier and I'm doing less laundry. The bottle vents amazingly - you can hear and see the bubbles going back into the bottle and he never has to unlatch throughout the whole feeding. This is the first bottle that he is able to drink the whole time without coming off. The only negative, though I think it is related to the great venting, is that when he first takes it, a little milk will dribble out of the nipple base until he gets good sucking going. After that it doesn't leak at all. Really, really great and really, really cheap!
Awesome product... way to go Gerber! May 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was searching everywhere for BPA-free alternative to the Dr. Brown's bottles we'd been using, then I find these at my local Target for under three bucks! Awesome!
These bottles are great if you're looking for a polypropylene bottle. The quality is good, and the ones I got already came with silicone nipples. That being said, these don't have any type of anti-gas/colic airflow/venting system... That I can tell. Mind you, this isn't a complaint, I didn't expect more for such a low price! A really nice thing about these bottles is that they are 9 ounce bottles not just 8. Anyone who has ever added powdered formula to 8 ounces of water, knows that it makes MORE than 8 ounces. :-) So, these should help with situations like that.
The main thing I liked about these bottles is that I was able to adapt them and use them with the Dr. Brown's airflow system (parts). We were quite attached to the airflow system in the Dr. Brown's bottles, so I shortened the reservoir (the long stick-insert) from the standard 8oz. Doc Brown's bottles, and then just used these Gerber bottles with all of the previously used Doc Brown's parts.
So far my baby doesn't seem to know the difference, and I am happy to not be using bottles that could be harmful to him.
Basically, these are a good alternative to anyone looking for an inexpensive bottle that does what it's supposed to, and doesn't break the bank. Thanks Gerber!
No More Spit Up! April 27, 2008 My daughter was having a terrible time with gas and reflux when we were using other bottles. We tried Playtex, Avent and Dr. Browns with no luck. A friend of mine gave us some of these Gerber Clear View bottles, and my baby stopped spitting up right away. She even started sleeping through the night! She seemed to struggle with the silicone nipples on the other bottles, but she has no trouble at all with these latex 3-hole nipples. They sell 3-packs of these bottles at Walmart for $2.99, so when the nipples wear out, I just buy a new pack of bottles.
Used them when no other would do and nursing April 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were nursing and my daughter had a hard time with the bottle. I tried TONS of styles and this was the ONLY one she would take. As I look back, I am so thankful that they are BPA free. Great value and thankfully they are safe!
