5 out of 5 stars a good alternative to cloth diaper   June 8, 2008
I use cloth diaper but for outings and night times I use Tushies. I like the fact that it is free from many chemicals. I still try to shake it to the toilet when there is a poop. Pricey product but worthy.

5 out of 5 stars Love these diapers   October 9, 2007

We have used Tushies since our son was born 18 months ago. He has never had diaper rash from Tushies and the stop leaks quite well during the day. We don't use them at night since he is a very active sleeper and we have washed more sheets from his wet bed. The only complaint is the tape you can only use once so make sure you get it on the plastic strip the first time. Also, if you have a lot of humidity in your area, the diapers will stick together when you get to the fourth pack in the case.

4 out of 5 stars Good "greener" diaper   January 10, 2007

We've been using this diaper with our daughter as an overnight diaper for the past 2 years. It is a bit bulkier, but it doesn't cause any rashes or redness, and it has no chloride. I gave it 4 stars because I do not like the "ties" too much. If your hand is even remotely oily (from baby lotion or baby oil)when changing the baby, the ties will not stick any more and the diaper will be ruined.

5 out of 5 stars wonderful gell-free non-chlorine bleach diaper for your healthy baby   November 10, 2006

These diapers are great! After having my baby/todler in cloth diapers for so long I had to at least for certain times find an easier stay-drier type solution for my growing todler, esspecially at night where that thing is on her skin for over 12 h sometimes. I was horrified at the chemical smell and flimsiness of regualr disposables. That's got to be UNHEALTHY for their delicate skin and overall health. Just smell your child after you take the diaper off, and the smell of chemicals can knock you over. And whatever you can smell, you know that small particles are being absorbed by the skin. Plus all the dioxins that come off in chlorinated disposable diapers. Tushies uses neither the toxic gell nor the chlorine bleach, and that is such a relief! I'm so glad to have found a disposable brand I can trust that is much more absorbant than even the cloth diapers really and less bulky, and better for my baby and for the environment we all must ultimately live in. For the 12 h stretch at night I still use a wool soaker over them just to be sure no leaks happen, but they certainly leak less than the regular Pampers/ Huggies and the like which are made so cheaply that they actually come appart at the seams and leak a lot more when full. Seventh Generation are not chlorinated but still use the gel so Tushies is really the only brand I can trust. The only slight issue with these diapers is the tape part which seems to lose some of its stickiness if the first several attempts to close them on the shiny part are not successful with a rumbunctious 2 year old who does NOT want her diaper on. So I would give them more like 4.5 rather than a full 5, but they are by far the best, safest disposable diaper I've found! Go Tushies!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Very Highly Recommended!   March 23, 2006

These diapers are fantastic! I myself prefer cloth diapers, but because we have a high water table if we do much laundry our septic backs up into our house - yuck! I am also severely chemically sensitive and so the scent on "normal" diapers and even the Seventh Generations ones that have gel make me ill. But these are great!! They are made of wood pulp/paper and do feel as if there were cotton in them. They have no chemical scent at all and feel nice and soft and smooth to my fingers. They close by means of an adhesive strip on either side that closes onto a larger piece of thin plastic on either side. If you accidentally close the adhesive strip on the paper it will tear when you pull it back off and usually not reseal. This is not a problem if you use them only once. We potty our baby and so sometimes we take it off and put it back on a few times before it gets wet or dirty. Other than accidentally sticking the strips to the paper I haven't had another problem with using them like this. There is elastic at the legs but it is basically encased so that it isn't in contact with the skin and they are snug enough on my baby's legs.

These are a little harder to tell if they are wet than the seventh generation ones (I've never used regular diapers since I can't get near them with their chemical scent) because there isn't a gel. I usually just put a finger on it and then touch that finger to my thumb and then I can tell if I feel dampness or not. If my baby pees a lot though it is easy to tell if it is wet...even from the outside because it will look a little more molded in form, but does not feel damp on the outside and the inside is less damp even then than in a cloth diaper.

The packaging says that you should not let the baby put these in his/her mouth since it is paper and can tear off in their mouth and that it should not be held near a flame - again because it is made out of paper. But all that said, these are not flimsy at all, they are well made and hold up just as well as a regular disposable.

I highly recommend these for anyone who for whom cloth diapers just isn't possible or for those times when impractical (day care) for those people who want to limit their baby's exposures to chemicals.
