Best option for infant bathing September 7, 2008 I discovered this product when my baby was almost 4 months old and wished I had been using it from the beginning. This bath seat allowed her to be more submerged in the water (so she stayed warmer) because I didn't have to worry about her slipping on a hard, uncomfortable surface (she hated the plastic tub). When I needed to wash her backside, I would just turn her on her tummy with her armpits over the top of the seat and her knees at the crease. She loved the change of scenery and I had easy access. The only downside was that mine just didn't drain completely, so I would end up with a mildew odor. I ended up cutting a 1/4" slit on each side, which seemed to solve the problem. Highly recommended.
So comfy and easy August 24, 2008 We recently brought home our 3rd baby. After using hard plastic tubs for the other two, this is a huge improvement. The baby LOVES sitting it it - it just cradles her. We are using it in the sink now, but will eventually move it to the tub. I read a lot of parent reviews and this one seemed like a good choice - we're quite pleased.
Good idea, poor quality. July 15, 2008 We bought this one to replace our Leachco Safter Bather, which we had used for over 2 years and was getting worn and discolored. I liked the fact that the Summer Infant one was also soft, unlike the hard plastic ones, and could conform to different sinks and the like. It feels nice and plushy and doesn't cover the drain in my sink like the Leachco one did (you should have seen the look on my daughter's face when I would have to lift her butt and she could hear all the water suddenly drain). It also drains of water faster since the outer rim of the bather does not absorb water but rather contains small styrofoam balls to cushion but not absorb. Great idea! I was a little disappointed that because of the bar on the underside to prop up the bather, I had less flexibility on how I had it in my sink than the Leachco. As my daughter got bigger, with the Leachco, I could turn the bather to an angel so her head and feet were at the corners of the sink and she could still lay down. With the Summer Infant, she spends most of her time sitting up.
My big problem is that after less than a month after buying the Summer Infant bather, and using it only once or twice a week, it has a hole and the styrofoam balls fall out all over my sink. We never took it anywhere and it never received any rough treatment. There has never been anything in the sink to puncture it.
It was a good idea (minus the bar to prop up one end) but the quality is such that it does not last.
Great bath sling - my baby loved it! March 26, 2008 I loved this bath sling! And so did my son! He wasn't too keen on the other types of slings and bath tubs that are hard plastic (and who would be) This one is soft and squishy. The only thing that I didn't like was that it took a long time to drain (but we put a hook up in the tub and could leave it there all day and by bath time the next night it was dry). And at around six months of use it started to look a little moldy, but since we really didn't use it after six months (when my son could sit up on his own in the tub) it was great for the perfect amount of time. I would recommend it to a friend and I think that it is great for newborns. It holds in the tub water, so they are warm from that and it is squishy and soft so they aren't sitting on uncomfortable plastic and wailing away the whole bath time - bath time can be enjoyable for them!
excellent tub February 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this is an excellent tub. my infant loves it. i use it in the kitchen sink. it fits perfectly. he stays in place, yet he has plenty of room to move around. i can even put him on his tummy to wash his backside. he does not slip at all. i hang it in the shower to dry. there is a great loop for hanging.
