Amazon.com The Wayans Brothers return with another horror-flick parody, this one taking shots at The Exorcist, Hannibal, and House on Haunted Hill, along with non-horror fare like Charlie's Angels. In addition to gags (and I do mean gag) about innumerable bodily functions, there are slyer jabs at Thomas Jefferson and Raging Bull. As in Scary Movie, the strongest humor comes from making fun of the inane behavior of characters in horror movies. Assisting Shawn and Marlon Wayans are Anna Faris, Kathleen Robertson (in the Carmen Electra role, providing the T&A), and David Cross, as well as Tori Spelling, Chris Elliott, James Woods (as an exorcist with bowel trouble), Andy Richter, and poor Tim Curry, who probably never thought his career would come to this. --Bret Fetzer

Hilarious January 7, 2008 If you're a fan of crude, sophmoric humor, you'll enjoy this movie. Like the other movies in the series, this one has one main parody (in this one, it's "The Haunting") with several other parodies of movies thrown in. The very first scene, which is not essential to the plot, is perhaps the funniest. It's a pretty good parody of "The Exorcist", starring James Woods as a less-than-enthusiastic would-be exorcist. The funniest part occurs when the possessed girl's mom and her other white, upper-middle-class friends are gathered around the piano and break into a "gangsta rap" song. I was laughing so hard I was crying. The rest of the movie centers on several college students who stay in the obligatory spooky old mansion to study psychic phenomena, sort of what happens in "The Haunting". Of course, things go awry, and pandemonium ensues. The performances are very funny, and there are some good parodies. One of the funniest scenes occurs when a marijuana plant in one guy's room turns into a giant monster, rolls up the hapless teen in his bedsheets, and starts to smoke him. Very funny- just as funny as the first, funnier than the third.
Scary movie 2 is great November 7, 2007 2nd in a series of four. Great for a chuckle and a thrill or two
Worst Movie Ever July 1, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is horrible. It is gross and to sum it up in a few words: the f-word and dirty jokes. It is disgusting. I don't recommend this movie for kids- or adults. Or ANYONE. I couldn't even FINISH it, it was so bad. The plot is not interesting, and like I said, if there even WAS a good plot you wouldn't know it because it would be so covered up by, like I said, the f-word and dirty jokes. I would never watch this movie is someone paid me a million dollars, and you shouldn't, either. I would recommend Scary Movie 3, though, the only other one I've seen, because it's actually FUNNY.
A comedy that pokes fun at scary movies! June 18, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you've seen any of the 4 Scary Movies, you know what they're about. They're comedies that poke fun at scary movies. They don't have any real story line. They're just there to make us laugh.
So what's to like about this movie? There are quite a few jokes that had me laughing. Some of the funny parts remind me of my own weird sense of humor and it's good to see a movie that contains not-so-typical/predictable jokes. The best part of the movie is the butler. His hand is deformed but he acts like his deformity is not a problem at all (when he's trying to save someone from falling, he says "take my strong hand!", refering to his bad hand). He exchanges disses with another character who has only one leg. Of course we have Anna Farris' character who gets made fun of by the guys. There are random jokes thrown throughout this movie (some good, some not so good). It's not a laugh out loud kind of movie but some parts will have you chuckling.
What's not to like about this movie? There's a couple of things. First, if you're not a horror movie fan, you may not understand some of the jokes and/or part of the plot. The majority of this movie is based on the movie "The Haunting" although there are some references to "The Exorcist", "What Lies Beneath", and some not-so-scary movies like "Charlie's Angels" and "The Matrix". If you haven't seen any of these movies (or at least know in general what they are about), it's easy to get confused. Also, as I said above, if you're expecting a really good story line, don't even bother. All of the movies in the Scary Movie line are basically just random scenes thrown together to gain some laughs that will come together to create an ending (and not even a good one at that).
My rating: 3.5/5 stars. If you've seen any of the other Scary Movies, you'll know what to expect. If you haven't seen them or you aren't a horror movie fan, you may be disappointed.
