Too spongey and gooey November 21, 2008 I tried this mix for my son who is on the GFCF diet. I used the bread machine recipe, and found the texture to be quite spongey and gooey almost like a bad pound cake recipe. The flavor seemed to lack something that I can't place my finger on. Maybe the flavor of sorghum was just too rich for my liking. Now my son who is the bigger critic seemed not to care for it because he'd take one bite and that would be it. I may try a different recipe for this bread mix because it has diverse recipes. For now I'll give it 3 stars for the bread machine recipe on the package.
Pamela's Wheat Free Bread Mix November 19, 2008 Delicious! It's the only one my son will eat because it's soft and taste good!
Very Versatile November 19, 2008 So far, I've used this mix to make bread, buns, bagels, pound cake, piecrust, etc. It's the most versatile GF mix I've found and the taste is so good, my co-workers have asked me for some. It doesn't taste stale if you can't heat it and it stays fairly good for a few days just sitting on the counter in a Ziploc. It works just fine using my Kitchen Aid mixer and my oven, I didn't need a bread machine.
The suggestion on the package to add 2 TBSP molasses for a whole wheat bread taste makes a good GF bread great. Also, I've continued using a tip I picked up somewhere to substitute 1/4 cup of ground flaxseed + 1/4 cup water for 2 eggs (more fiber, less fat). These two things turn out a good brown bread that makes a great ham & Swiss w/ stone ground mustard.
Amazon Subscribe & Save has the best price on this product that I've seen. Check the Pamela's website for some good recipes using this mix http://www.pamelasproducts.com/
best cupcakes ever! November 18, 2008 This mix makes the best cupcakes you'll ever eat!!! You would never know they were gluten free!
Great for the whole family! November 16, 2008 These cookies are every bit as good as their gluten counter part. Simple to make. Delicious and much cheaper than purchasing the already made, pre packaged gluten free cookies.
