These cloth diapers are the BEST May 21, 2008 I started using these when my daughter was only 15 months old. I got the toddler sized ones and bought 2 of the 5-packs with the rolls of the flushable insides (which are so helpful for times when she goes number 2 in her diaper) and I got the extra flannel insides for at night (which is another need if your child is soaker at night).
I looked into going this route since my daughter consistently broke out in diaper rashes and I had previously used Pampers Cruisers. I later found out that Pampers Cruisers use a lot of harmful chemicals in their diapers and I had found that a lot of my friends' kids had also developed diaper rashes from wearing Pampers diapers of any kind and my friends had all switched to another brand.
So, with that in mind, I bought these. My daughter's doctor told us to switch to cloth and see how it goes. And he was right. No more diaper rashes and the big plus of them all.... my daughter is currently 22 months old and she notices the difference between wet and dry. She always tells me when she needs a new diaper; AND she now sleeps through the night without wetting her diaper. So, I am thinking that toilet training is just around the corner for my daughter. She is showing a genuine interest and I believe these cloth diapers helped out in the sense that she can actually feel the wetness when she goes in her diaper and would rather be dry; as opposed to going in a disposable which whisks away the moisture into the lining of the diaper... hence the child not noticing whether he/she is wet or dry.
The other plus with these diapers is the fact that I normally collect them in a regular shopping bag throughout the day and throw them in the washing machine at night. It's such a cinch with the upkeep of these diapers. I can't see why anyone wouldn't want to get these. Also, they fit just right. Initially, they were a little big on my daughter when she was 15 months old, but now, she's a good 28+ lbs. and they fit perfectly on her. I never had a problem with leakage with these. And these things are made to last. I was able to tell that when I first opened the package up and felt them. They have a nice and soft flannel interior with a flannel flap with a leak proof exterior and they have cute little designs on them. Very neutral. So, if I had a boy next go around, I can use these on him.
These diapers are awesome!!!! :-)
luv the kushies May 15, 2008 I've used Kushies diapers for my children and despite a few leaks in the begining I have had no problems with them. In fact I love them. I was a little leary when I first got them cause they felt a little stiff but after a few washes they softened right up. I would definately reccomend washing these diapers atleast twice before first use cause it seems to make them more absorbent. When my children started getting older and required a little more absorbency I just added a hemp wash cloth folded in half and that was all it took. I also got my best price on these diapers from thebabylane.com, fantastic place to order from.
Returned them immediately April 21, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I didn't even use these diapers. I couldn't get past the fact that they felt like big, heavy, hard, plastic bags. I'm surprised so many people are happy with them. I was also not happy with the bulkiness of these diapers. I have since purchased Bumgenius, Happy Heiny and Mommy's Touch brands. The B.G. and H.H. are pocket diapers and the M.T. is an AIO. I have been very happy with these instead.
Good for babies who don't move March 24, 2008 These diapers are okay for use until your child can roll over or crawl. It seems that no matter which way I stick the straps they still allow leaks up the tummy. These diapers have held up pretty well for the 5 months I used them, but now the velcro is starting to pill and it seems that you could probably pull the the velcro off of the diaper if you take the straps off too fast. Also, I can't figure out if it may just be our water but these diapers have developed these odd orange stains where the seam of the outer layer and inner layer meet. This doesn't effect the function of the diaper but I can't help but wonder what it is. These also cannot last an overnight without a doubler.
Overall these have been sturdy and might last through a couple of kids. You have to watch the leaks during "tummy time" but a doubler can fix this issue. This is a good cost effective approach to an all-in-one but for us we are trying other diapers now that our son has grown out of these.
Overall these
Very easy to change December 7, 2007 I put a couple sets of these on my baby registry and am so pleased with them that I have ordered more myself!! I'm very lucky that my daycare humors me and will use them too. I just put soiled ones in a dry bucket (make sure to fold the tabs back). My baby only poos every few days and not a diaper in the world will hold all of that, so don't expect miracles, but it is great for the smaller poos of the first few months and pee thereafter. Recommend washing at least twice before using--for absorbancy. Happy diapering!
