5 out of 5 stars a fabulous alternative to unhealthy diapers   July 6, 2008
I purchased these diapers instead of Pampers for my baby, after I read all about the chemicals used in the "trim" mainline diapers and the possible effects of all these chemicals (like dioxin and chlorine) on the brain and reproductive system. I was pleasantly surprised when the diapers arrived because they were not nearly as thick as I had assumed. Now on my second package, I will never go back to the other diapers. These last throughout the night and have not leaked. Plus, I know I am not harming my baby. I will never have to wipe those little gel balls off again.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Diaper!!   June 7, 2008
This is the greatest diaper, next to cloth. I noticed a lot of reviewers say that the diaper leaks. Unless your child is a really heavy wetter I can't really see that being a problem. As with any diaper, if you change when they go, or close to, this diaper will be great. The only time we have had a problem with leaking we moved up to the next size and it wasn't a problem anymore. But I am assuming that would be a problem with any diaper.

1 out of 5 stars Don't bother   April 29, 2008

The reason to buy Tushies is that they are better for the environment than the commercial brands (Huggies, Pampers). After using these for a month, I realize that I have to change my baby's diaper more often, which adds more diapers to the landfills, and I have more wash to do because Tushies leak all over by baby's clothes. Better for the environment? I think not.

I bought a case of Tushies before my baby was born, thinking I'd use them as soon as I got home from the hospital. My 7 lb 6 oz baby was too small for the diapers, and we used Huggies for the first couple months (which worked great). At about 10 lbs, we tried Tushies. They are bulky, they leak, and seem to be a throwback to the 60's. Haven't we had more advances in diapers since then?

Tushies leak everywhere! Through the leg opening, up the back of the diaper. Each time my baby would give me that patented look like he was peeing, it would be a mad rush to change him before the diaper leaked. And don't get me started on the pooping! Out the leg opening, up the back, all over whatever he was sitting in or laying on, through his clothes. I must change the clothes on that kid 3-4 times per day, all because Tushies aren't designed well.

And watch out for the baby powder! We found out that the tape closure doesn't work if the powder gets anywhere near the tape. We've had to throw out a few diapers because they wouldn't close. Yet more waste in our landfills.

I bought the case of Tushies from Amazon for $43.63, and regret every penny. Tushies is doing the environmental movement a disservice by having these on the market. Anyone thinking of going greener is going to be discouraged with this product. Why go green if it makes life more difficult?! I have since purchased Seventh Generation diapers (yes, I am still thinking green), and am chomping at the bit to use them. I've only heard great things about them from friends, but alas, I still have a few Tushies to use before I can break open that box!

5 out of 5 stars LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ' EM   February 27, 2008
These diapers are WONDERFUL! They are the answer to my prayers. They are great for my baby's sensitive skin and a releif to my environmental beleifs. I weighed the options of cloth diapers, which takes large amounts of detergant and water versus disposables, which pose a threat to the landfills. Tushies is biodegradable and actually work! I purchased GDIAPERS and with the great ideas that they have, they need to go back to the drawing board because they leak. These diapers have not leaked @ all and I LOVE the way that they fit around the legs. They have a cover that does not cut into my baby's legs or belly. I had a problem with the seventh generation diapers doing that. ANYWAY, WONDERFUL WONDERFUL diapers! Can't rave enough about them! Buy them for your baby and the earth!

3 out of 5 stars 7th generation are better   December 13, 2007

I bought these for their "gel free" claim. Let me tell you that the gel makes a world of difference and doesn't hurt baby. These leaked and had to be changed every hr or so. Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Diapers, Stage 2 (12-18 Lbs), 48-Count Packages (Pack of 4) (192 Diapers) are so much better, they close better, they don't leak, they can hold more. In the end I switched to Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers - Super Mega Pack - 5 because of the price. Also, I didn't think my baby needed the "organic" diapers much past the 3th month (her skin is less sensitive after that).
